![[ ]](http://images.proboards.com/new/off.png) | Early Islam and its diversity Where all the early Muslims like Muslims today. In the past there were Ahl-Al-Kalaam and Ahl-Al-Hadeeth. The Mu'tazilah, Ash'ariyyah, Ahl-Ar-ray', the Khawaarij and the mutakkalimun were apart of the Ahl-Al-Kalam who gave preference to the interaction between the Quran and their 3aql (logic processes) over any narrations extraneous to the Quran. The Ahl-Alhadeeth are what developed into the 4 Sunni schools of thought, making narrations extraneous to the Quran equally obligatory on Muslims as the Quran based on the authenticity of Isnaads, although in different ways. Then there are the Shia and Sufi groups. Who were these people? What did they believe and what effect do they and did they have on Islam?

Shouldn't all of it be applied or should we pick and choose what we think is appropriate for "nowadays"? And where does this idea of not having to follow all of the Quran, or any of it even come from amdist the Muslims? Ahl-Alray (people of opinion) comes to mind. Do we have a new, radical Ahl-Al-ray amongst the Muslims? Is this okay?
